Continued painting oils and watercolours and exhibited in shows in Mosman and North Sydney.

Retired from full time work.

Moved to Sydney, began work at Gordon M. Jenkins & Associates, Architects. Continued painting.

Returned to Melbourne, worked as an architect, designed sets for the Victorian Opera Company, began painting.

Worked as an architect in London and travelled in Europe, reuniting with parents in Germany.

Won the Robert and Ada Hannon travelling scholarship to London.

Completed Bachelor of Architecture, graduating with honours.

Changed name to Hans John Lorraine.

Became Australian citizen.

Studied Architecture at University of Melbourne.

Enlisted in the Australian army.

Interned in camps at Hay, NSW and Tatura, Vic.

Declared an enemy alien and transported on the HMT Dunera to Australia.

Accepted in to Bedford Modern School, UK.

From a Jewish family, escaped Nazi Germany, unaccompanied at the age of 13.
