Five Gippsland friends got together to fill the spaces at WAS Gallery. Artists Helen Anderson, Greg Follett, Julie Follett, Irene Proebsting and Julie Puchalski work in diverse media and styles but have collaborated to produce the show Still Objects .
The theme was literally ‘still objects’ but the approaches were very different. Helen Anderson and Greg Follett have painted in oils, Greg also has sculptural assemblages. Julie Follett created digital prints as well as mixed media assemblages. Irene Proebsting created a series of digital prints and Julie Puchalski produced a large collection of acryic paintings.
This group meets up for regular ‘art weekends’, where they experiment with various media including printmaking, painting, drawing, photography and collage. These art weekends and other art appreciations have formed a connection which enables the artists to bounce ideas off each other and sometimes challenge boundaries. The resulting exhibition, Still Objects, was eclectic and thought provoking.
